The 6th Grade Chorus meets every Thursday morning during advisory. This group learns the basics of singing 2 and 3 part music in preparation for concerts and their future involvement in the 7 and 8th grade chorus.
Participation in chorus requires that you attend vocal lessons - known asvocal workshop. These classes meet once every 8 days as part of the Specials rotation. Vocal workshop allows students to work on the details of their music and helps refine their vocal skills. During these classes students will also learn basic music theory and ear training, and receive instruction through the use of technology.
The 7th Grade Chorus meets every Wednesday morning during advisory and 8th Grade Chorus meets every Tuesday morning during advisory. This is a continuation of the musical experiences gained in 6th grade. However, you DO NOT have to have participated in the previous year's chorus in order to join the next.
The Rosa Chorus Program is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student with an interest in singing in a group setting. Below is some general information about this organization...

Close Harmony and Rosettes
Formally known as Boys and Girls Close Harmony, these groups are auditioned groups which rehearse strictly after school. Auditions take place in late September or early October. The groups range in size from 12 to 16 members each and include only 7th and 8th grade chorus members. Members of these groups must commit to the after school rehearsals, as they are the only means of learning and coordinating all of the music these groups perform.
In order to participate in the Close Harmony (boys) or Rosettes (girls) groups, you must be able to sing in parts both with and without musical accompaniment. Most of the music performed by these students is in the style of 'N SYNC and Barbershop Quartets (4-part harmony). Some music they have done in the past includes "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "I Get Around," "In The Still of the Night," and "Under the Sea."
Each of these groups performs at the Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as some extra performances throughout the year. Any questions you may have can be directed to the choral director at the link provided on theRosa Music Home Page.
Chorus is a graded subject and all students must complete the necessary requirements listed on the Schedules/Policies page (see link at left).
